Współczesne media elektroniczne szczególnie intensywnie wyznaczają trendy w zakresie kulturowego ideału osobowości, stylu życia, norm i wartości, jakie w następstwie tych działań manifestują kolejne pokolenia.
Contemporary electronic media play a particularly significant role in setting trends regarding cultural ideals of personality, lifestyle, norms, and values, which subsequent generations then embody. Framing this issue within the context of key sociological theories facilitates an understanding of how conformity to a product is induced, thereby altering an individual’s perception of reality. The aim of the article is to analyze the mechanisms of constructing reality through digital media, with particular emphasis on the role of recommendation algorithms, advertising strategies, and classical and contemporary sociological theories. The intention is also to draw attention to the fundamental mechanisms of persuasion – and, by extension, advertising – that identify and shape the key interests of future consumers. This naturally resonates with how the individual perceives events of both a global and microstructural nature. Globalization processes and the unification of interpretations of social situations lead, on the one hand, to a shortening of the supply chain, the generation of greater profits, and simplification in identifying behaviors, attitudes, and actions; on the other hand, they are responsible for civilizational problems with defining identity, choosing the right path for personal and professional development, as well as for mental and physical health issues. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, utilized in digital media and often cited as the foundation of effective advertising and sales strategies, can serve both as an indirect indicator of the success of businesses, organizations, and institutions, and as a source of conflicts, misunderstandings, and a constant sense of infiltration and surveillance of the social actor. Desk research in the penetrated area, especially articles, reports and empirical studies from the last decade, from the perspective of sociological and marketing theory, provide an opportunity to compile, cross-verify and process existing data for the purpose of diagnosing the market and social situation. The recommendations resulting from the analytical and synthetic approach to the issue at hand are not only an opportunity for further theoretical reflection on digital media from the perspective of business and advertising ethics, but also a chance to implement specific solutions in communication security policies and training programs of a preventive and educational nature.
