This chapter will explore the characteristics of Russian historical discourse and the
role of history in educating society in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, drawing on material
from a pro-Kremlin Russian history textbook for high school students and Putin's approach
to teaching history. The text discusses the characteristics of historical discourse encompassing
the Soviet period from 1945 to 1991 and the Russian Federation from 1992 to 2022.
